0:00 Good morning.0:01 Sometimes the simplest answer is hiding in plain sight.0:06 Yesterday, we spoke about the peace that comes from being still and knowing.0:13 Today, we'll look at where to find that same quiet confidence, not just in stillness, but in the middle of our busy lives, through the lens of trust.0:26 Let’s listen to the words from the gospel of Matthew, chapter six, verse twenty-six.0:34 “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.0:45 Are you not much more valuable than they?” It’s such a simple image, isn’t it?0:52 Birds.0:52 We see them every day.0:55 We might even find them a little ordinary.0:58 But Jesus points to them as teachers.1:02 He says, “Look.” He invites us to actually stop and observe.1:07 And what do we see?1:09 We see creatures that are in constant motion.1:13 They are busy.1:14 They are building nests, they are searching for seeds, they are living their lives fully.1:22 But there’s a key difference in their activity.1:27 They don’t sow, or reap, or store away in barns.1:31 They aren't consumed by the three, five, or ten-year plan for their survival.1:38 Their work is for today.1:40 Their trust is for today.1:43 Here’s what that means for you.1:45 Your life is filled with sowing and reaping and storing.1:51 You have spreadsheets, and retirement accounts, and grocery lists.1:57 You have project plans and deadlines.2:00 These things are part of our world, and they aren't bad.2:05 But the verse asks us to notice when the management of these things turns into deep, soul-level anxiety.2:15 It’s the worry that keeps you up at three in the morning, the fear that if you stop planning for even a moment, everything will fall apart.2:27 The birds live with a kind of freedom we often crave.2:32 A freedom from that deep, gnawing worry about tomorrow.2:37 And the source of that freedom is the next line.2:42 “…and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.” This is not a promise of passivity.2:49 The birds don't just sit in the nest with their mouths open, waiting for food to magically appear.2:58 They fly, they search, they work.3:01 The promise is not that you will have to do nothing.3:06 The promise is that the provision is THERE to be found.3:11 God’s act of feeding them is in creating a world where their work can bear fruit, day by day.3:19 So, here’s what that means for you today.3:23 It means you can trust that the work you put in has a purpose.3:28 It means that when you go out into your day — to your job, to your family, to your community — the resources you need, the strength you need, the insight you need… it is available.3:45 Your role is to do the work of today.3:48 To fly, to search.3:50 God’s role is to ensure that the provision is there for you to find.3:56 It’s a partnership.3:58 It’s an act of faith to believe that your effort will not be in vain, that there is a loving hand ensuring the world is not empty of what you need.4:11 And that brings us to the final, most personal part of the verse.4:17 The question that sits at the very heart of it all.4:22 “Are you not much more valuable than they?” This shifts everything.4:28 The argument moves from simple observation of nature to a profound statement about your identity.4:37 The reason you can trust God’s provision is not just because he takes care of his creation.4:45 It’s because you are uniquely, specifically, and deeply VALUABLE to him.4:52 This value isn't something you earn.4:55 It isn't tied to your productivity, your success, or how much you have stored in your own barn.5:04 The birds are cared for, and they are beautiful.5:08 But you… you are a child of God.5:11 You are known by name.5:13 His care for you is not just general maintenance; it is personal, relational, and fierce.5:21 So today, as you move through your tasks, when that familiar knot of worry begins to tighten in your chest, I want you to pause.5:33 Look out a window.5:35 Find a bird.5:36 And let it remind you of this truth.5:39 You are seen.5:40 You are deeply valued.5:42 And your Father is already at work, providing for your day.
