0:00 Alphabet is officially replacing Verizon in the Dow Jones Industrial Average on June twenty-ninth.0:06 Just yesterday in episode forty-two, we talked about how AI moves from companies like OpenAI are reshaping the entire landscape—well, this is what that looks like at the highest level of the market.0:19 It’s a changing of the guard, driven by tech's absolute dominance.0:23 So that’s the big structural shift.0:25 Here’s what else moved the needle while you were sleeping.0:29 First, the tech market is breathing again.0:32 After that sharp sell-off earlier in the week, Nasdaq futures are up over one-point-seven percent this morning.0:39 It seems the panic has subsided, and investors are looking for stability, with their focus right back on AI.0:46 Second, Qualcomm just announced it’s going all-in on data center infrastructure.0:51 And guess who its first customers are?0:54 Microsoft and Meta.0:55 So while Nvidia gets the headlines for training AI, Qualcomm is making a serious play to be the hardware that runs it.1:03 And third, speaking of Meta, The New York Times is reporting that the Trump administration is pressuring the company to voluntarily submit its AI models for a government review.1:14 So the regulatory questions we've been tracking are starting to get very real, very fast.1:20 But the real story, the one that tells you everything you need to know about the money flooding into AI right now… is Micron Technology.1:29 Micron just reported its third-quarter earnings, and the numbers are just… staggering.1:34 They were expected to report earnings per share of around twenty dollars and thirty-nine cents.1:40 They came in at twenty-five dollars and eleven cents.1:44 Analysts were looking for about thirty-five billion in revenue.1:48 Micron reported forty-one-point-five billion.1:51 That is not a beat.1:52 That is a demolition.1:54 The stock, which had been tumbling with the rest of the tech sector, rocketed up over twelve percent in after-hours trading.2:02 So what’s going on here?2:03 Two words: memory and storage.2:05 The AI build-out is creating a demand for high-bandwidth memory—or HBM—that nobody fully priced in.2:12 Every single AI model, every data center being built, is hungry for these specialized chips.2:18 Micron is one of the few companies that makes them at scale.2:21 They just signed a strategic deal to supply Anthropic, one of the biggest AI labs in the world.2:28 And here’s the part that should really get your attention.2:31 On the earnings call, Micron’s leadership projected that the market for just this one component—HBM—will cross one hundred billion dollars by 2027.2:41 A hundred billion.2:42 For a single type of chip.2:44 That’s the scale of this gold rush.2:46 This is why the market snapped back so quickly.2:49 The sell-off was about valuation concerns, sure.2:52 But the underlying demand is not theoretical.2:55 It’s physical.2:56 Companies are spending billions, right now, to build the actual infrastructure.3:01 And that brings us back to Alphabet joining the Dow.3:05 Why now?3:05 Because Alphabet just spent nearly eighty-five billion dollars on its own AI spending spree.3:11 The old industrial average is finally catching up to the new one.3:15 The companies that used to define the economy, like a legacy telco, are making way for the ones building the next version of it.3:24 So when you see the market swing, it’s easy to think it’s just algorithms trading with other algorithms.3:30 But what happened with Micron shows you the physical reality underneath it all.3:35 The AI revolution isn’t just code.3:38 It’s silicon.3:39 It's construction.3:40 It’s a massive, worldwide industrial project, and the companies providing the picks and shovels are the ones cashing in.
