0:00 Google is officially retiring the Android Assistant.0:03 It's being replaced by Gemini, and this isn’t just a new name on an old product — it’s a fundamental shift in how your phone is going to work.0:12 Remember last week we talked about the AI energy crunch and the massive power needed for new data centers?0:19 Well, it turns out even building that infrastructure is now so complex that a startup named Dili just raised twenty-one-point-seven million dollars for an AI to manage regulatory compliance on those exact projects.0:33 The AI needs AI just to get built.0:35 That’s just one piece of the puzzle.0:38 Ameriprise Financial is now pouring one billion dollars a year into embedding AI into its workflows.0:44 The goal?0:45 To let AI handle the admin so their financial advisors can focus on client relationships.0:51 Meanwhile, Spotify just blew past three hundred million subscribers, but they're running headfirst into a wall of privacy regulations that could throttle their ability to personalize and monetize all that growth.1:05 And on the privacy front, there's a real shift happening.1:09 A company called DeleteMe just acquired Permission Slip from Consumer Reports.1:14 This is about giving you simpler tools to get your data deleted from the hundreds of companies that have it.1:21 And it's not a small thing — they've already handled nearly five million privacy requests.1:27 But here’s the turn.1:28 It's not just about deleting data anymore.1:31 A company called Sports Data Labs just secured a U.S.1:34 patent for an AI-based consent system.1:37 This isn't about hiding your data; it's about controlling — and maybe even getting paid for — its use.1:43 Okay, let's go back to Google, because what's happening with Gemini is the real sea change for your daily life.1:51 The old Google Assistant had what one expert called a "deterministic, micro-task architecture." That's a fancy way of saying it was a glorified checklist.2:01 You ask for a timer, you get a timer.2:03 You ask for the weather, you get the weather.2:06 It was a tool that waited for your command.2:09 Gemini is NOT that.2:10 Google is moving to what they call a "conversational, multimodal" system.2:15 It's designed to be proactive.2:17 Think about that.2:18 It’s the difference between you asking your phone to set an alarm...2:23 and your phone looking at your calendar, your email, and live traffic, and then telling YOU, "Hey, you have that meeting across town tomorrow morning, and there's construction.2:34 You should probably get up thirty minutes earlier.2:37 I've already set a new alarm for you.2:40 Is that okay?" It gets deeper.2:42 Google is rolling out "Gemini Spark agents" that will aggregate data from all your connected apps — your Gmail, your calendar, your maps — to give you personalized daily briefs and suggest what you should do next.2:56 This changes EVERYTHING, especially advertising.2:59 Companies won't just be trying to get you to click on a link anymore.3:04 They'll be optimizing their ads to convince your AI agent that their product is the logical next step for you.3:11 The transaction happens between AIs, with you as the subject.3:15 And that brings us to the real tension in all of this.3:18 While Google is building an AI to manage your life by consuming all your data, a whole other industry is rising up to give you control over that data.3:28 That’s the DeleteMe acquisition.3:30 That’s the new Sports Data Labs patent.3:33 The CEO there, Mark Gorski, said it perfectly: "Consented personal data, at scale, is the defining input required for AI." That’s the key.3:42 CONSENTED data.3:43 The old model was companies just taking it.3:46 The new fight is over who gets to give that consent, and what it's worth.3:50 One vision of the future is an AI that seamlessly runs your life by knowing everything about you.3:57 The other is a future where you hold the keys to your own data, and you decide who gets access, and for what price.4:04 These two futures are on a collision course.4:07 And your phone is the battlefield.
