0:00 The race to power America's AI boom is now being won at one hundred and eighty-seven feet.0:05 Yesterday we talked about Alphabet and Tesla kicking off earnings season, but the real story isn't just in the quarterly reports.0:13 It's being told in Texas, along power transmission corridors, where the AI revolution looks a lot less like software and more like steel.0:21 First, the rest of the market is finally catching up to the AI hardware story.0:26 Semiconductor stocks absolutely surged on Tuesday, lifting the Dow, the S&P 500, and the Nasdaq.0:32 You saw names like Super Micro and Dell posting huge gains — we're talking five, six, seven percent in a day.0:39 It’s a clear signal that the money is flowing not just into the AI model makers, but into the companies building the physical guts of the systems.0:47 This isn't just a handful of winners anymore; the entire hardware ecosystem is getting a lift.0:53 And speaking of the ecosystem, a new, important player just came out of stealth.0:58 A company called SkyPilot launched yesterday with twenty million dollars in seed funding.1:04 Their mission?1:04 To solve a massive headache for anyone building frontier AI models.1:09 Right now, if you're a top AI team, your computing power is scattered everywhere — some on Amazon, some on Google Cloud, some on-premise clusters, a mix of different accelerators.1:19 It's a mess.1:20 SkyPilot is building a platform to turn all that fragmented compute into what is effectively one unified AI supercomputer.1:28 Hundreds of companies are already using it.1:30 And finally, on those earnings we mentioned.1:33 Alphabet did report yesterday, and the numbers were strong.1:37 Revenue was up twenty-two percent, driven by what they called "insatiable demand" for AI infrastructure in their cloud segment.1:44 Google Cloud is now up to fourteen percent of the market, up from twelve percent last year.1:50 They're still third, but they are gaining on Amazon and Microsoft.1:54 It proves the demand for AI compute is real, and it sets a very high bar for everyone else reporting this week.2:01 Okay, but let's go back to those one-hundred-and-eighty-seven-foot towers.2:05 Because here's the part that changes how you should think about the AI race.2:10 For the last two years, the story has been about chips and models.2:14 Nvidia's GPUs.2:15 OpenAI's GPT series.2:16 It was a software and silicon story.2:18 That story is now hitting a wall.2:20 A physical wall.2:21 And that wall is the power grid.2:23 Here's what nobody tells you on the earnings calls: you cannot download electricity.2:28 All these massive data centers, these billion-dollar training runs, they consume an astonishing amount of power.2:35 And the grid wasn't built for this.2:37 So the new frontier for AI isn't a San Francisco boardroom; it's a right-of-way in the Midwest, a substation in Virginia, and the top of a steel transmission tower in Abilene, Texas.2:48 That's where the real bottleneck is.2:51 Getting the power from where it's generated to where the AI data centers are being built.2:56 It's a dirty, difficult, physical job.2:58 And the companies that can solve this — the ones building out the infrastructure, running the high-voltage lines — are suddenly some of the most critical players in the entire tech economy.3:10 It's a complete inversion of what we thought was important.3:14 This is why the SkyPilot launch is so timely.3:16 It's the other side of the same coin.3:19 While one part of the industry is dealing with brute-force physics and steel, SkyPilot is tackling the software chaos.3:26 Think about it.3:27 You're an AI company, you've finally secured the power and the physical space for your data center, you've bought thousands of GPUs.3:35 Now what?3:35 You have to manage them.3:37 You have to make sure they're all working together, not sitting idle.3:41 That's a software problem, and it's almost as hard as the power problem.3:45 SkyPilot’s pitch is that they provide the operating system for your AI hardware, no matter where it is or who made it.3:53 They're creating a single pane of glass for a world of fragmented, hyper-specialized computer chips.3:59 It's the abstraction layer on top of the raw metal.4:02 So you have these two massive shifts happening at the exact same time.4:06 The AI industry is being forced to go back to basics — raw power, steel, physical infrastructure.4:12 And simultaneously, it's being forced to create a new layer of software to manage the incredible complexity it just built.4:20 The AI boom started to feel like magic.4:22 Like pure information.4:23 It's not.4:24 It's becoming a story of industrial-scale engineering again.4:27 The future of artificial intelligence is suddenly looking a lot like the past of the electric grid.
