0:00 This week, Donald Trump threatened to bomb Oman.0:03 A longtime U.S.0:04 ally.0:05 His reasoning?0:06 "Or else we’ll have to blow them up.0:09 They understand that.0:10 They’ll be fine." Last week we talked about late-night writers running out of coffee over his rants...0:18 this week they're just mainlining espresso directly from the machine.0:24 The hits kept coming.0:25 A federal judge, Christopher Cooper, ruled that Trump’s name must be removed from the Kennedy Center.0:33 A beautiful ruling.0:34 The best ruling.0:36 Everyone is saying so.0:37 Trump, of course, posted a masterpiece on Truth Social, calling the judge — an Obama appointee, naturally — a disgrace who wants to see the arts center "DIE." It’s always life or death.0:52 The Kennedy Center isn't just getting its old name back, it's being saved from the abyss.0:59 Then there was the medical mystery.1:01 The President had a physical at Walter Reed on May twenty-sixth.1:06 The results?1:07 He says, "Everything checked out PERFECTLY." But the White House released nothing.1:14 No summary.1:14 No doctor's note.1:16 Just...1:16 trust me.1:17 Cardiologist Jonathan Reiner called the silence "unimaginable." The official excuse for visible bruising and swelling?1:26 Aspirin and too many handshakes.1:29 He’s shaking hands so hard he’s giving himself contusions.1:33 That’s a firm handshake.1:35 And in a move that shocked absolutely no one paying attention, he claimed egg prices were down almost thirty percent in one week.1:45 A miracle.1:46 An economic victory for the forgotten man.1:49 Except government data shows prices have actually gone UP twenty-eight percent since he took office.1:57 So who are you going to believe, him or your grocery bill?2:01 Let's go back to the Kennedy Center.2:04 Because this one is special.2:06 This isn't just a policy fight.2:09 This is about architecture.2:11 It's about legacy.2:12 When a leader wants to be remembered forever, they build things.2:17 The Romans built aqueducts and coliseums.2:20 The Pharaohs built pyramids.2:22 It's the oldest play in the book: put your name on something huge and permanent so nobody can forget you.2:30 So when Trump appointed himself chairman of the board and slapped his name on the John F.2:37 Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts...2:40 you see the pattern.2:42 It's the strongman impulse.2:44 Build a monument.2:45 Here's where the analogy breaks.2:48 And it's beautiful.2:49 He didn't build a new monument.2:52 He tried to put a bumper sticker on someone else's.2:56 He tried to rename the Kennedy Center.2:59 Not the "Washington Performing Arts Hall." The KENNEDY Center.3:03 A building that Congress itself named, by law, as a living memorial.3:09 Judge Cooper’s ruling was surgical.3:11 He said, and I quote, “Congress gave the Kennedy Center its name, and only Congress can change it.” The board Trump stacked couldn’t just vote to rename it.3:24 Especially when Representative Joyce Beatty, a board member, says she was muted on the call and not allowed to object.3:33 Unanimous!3:33 A perfect vote!3:35 If you don't count the people who weren't allowed to speak.3:39 This is the whole story in one perfect little drama.3:43 The desperate need for validation.3:46 The belief that rules are for other people.3:49 The attempt to co-opt a legacy instead of building one.3:53 And the final, furious rant when a judge points out that, no, you actually can't just do that.4:01 So what connects it all?4:03 The threat to bomb an ally...4:05 the imaginary egg prices...4:07 the self-awarded A-plus on a secret health exam.4:11 It's a performance.4:12 A constant, desperate assertion of a reality that just isn't there.4:17 He’s not building a legacy.4:19 He's just trying to rename one.4:22 And this week, for a moment, a judge reminded him that some names...4:27 you just can't buy.
