0:00 A single gray squirrel can hide up to ten thousand nuts in one season.0:06 And just like Rosie the rabbit learned in our last story that even a rainy day has its own kind of sunshine, a little squirrel named Pip was about to discover his own special magic.0:24 Pip was sitting at the bottom of a great big oak tree.0:30 He wasn’t playing chase with his friends.0:34 He was watching a tiny ladybug, with seven perfect black dots, crawl all the way up a single blade of grass.0:44 In the distance, he could hear Barnaby the bear cub laughing and Squeaky the mouse squeaking as they played.0:55 Pip felt a little… quiet inside.0:58 A little bit lonely.1:00 Barnaby and Squeaky were playing their favorite game—tossing Barnaby’s lucky pinecone.1:08 It wasn’t just any pinecone.1:11 It was smooth and round, with a perfect swirl that went all the way to the top.1:19 “Higher, Squeaky, throw it HIGHER!” roared Barnaby with a happy rumble.1:26 Squeaky, with all his might, tossed the pinecone up… up… up… so high it seemed to touch a cloud.1:35 And then… it was gone.1:38 They looked everywhere.1:40 They rustled in the bushes.1:43 They peeked under ferns.1:45 “It’s gone,” Barnaby mumbled, his big bear shoulders drooping.1:51 “My lucky pinecone is gone forever.”
Squeaky ran in frantic circles, his whiskers twitching with worry.2:01 They both ran over to Pip.2:04 “Did you see it?2:05 Pip, did you see where it went?”
Pip shook his head slowly.2:11 He had been watching his ladybug.2:14 He hadn't seen the pinecone at all.2:18 A heavy feeling settled in his tummy.2:21 He wished he had been playing their game.2:25 He wished he could help.2:28 But then, seeing his big friend look so very sad… Pip had an idea.2:34 He didn’t run around.2:36 He didn’t shout.2:38 He did what he did best.2:40 He got very, very still.2:43 He closed his eyes.2:45 He remembered the sound of Barnaby’s laugh.2:49 He remembered the swoosh of the pinecone flying through the air.2:55 And then… he remembered something else.2:59 Just as the pinecone went out of sight, he had heard a tiny… thump… from the direction of the clover patch.3:09 The same clover patch where his ladybug was still exploring.3:15 Pip opened his eyes.3:17 He knew.3:18 He quietly padded over to the clover patch, his friends following behind him, confused.3:27 He didn’t say a word.3:29 He just pointed with one tiny paw.3:32 And there, nestled perfectly between three soft green leaves, was the pinecone.3:40 It was safe.3:41 It wasn’t lost at all.3:43 Barnaby let out a happy gasp and gave Pip the gentlest, softest bear hug.3:50 Squeaky did a little happy dance around his feet.3:55 They realized that while they were busy with their loud and wonderful game, Pip was busy with his quiet and wonderful watching.4:08 And Pip didn't feel lonely anymore.4:11 He felt… needed.4:13 He felt like himself.4:15 Being quiet wasn't a small thing.4:18 It was a superpower.4:20 And for the rest of the afternoon, the three friends sat together, not playing chase, but watching one tiny ladybug finish its long journey up a single blade of grass.
