0:00 Hattie the hedgehog was curled up so tightly, she looked just like a little brown pinecone.0:08 She was listening to everyone plan the annual Sweetberry Feast, and even Flicker the Fox was there, chattering about his own sweet surprise from last week.0:21 Everyone was so loud, and so excited.0:25 Hattie was excited, too.0:27 But her excitement was a quiet, inside feeling.0:31 It stayed tucked away, just like she did.0:35 Barnaby the Badger was drawing a map in the dirt with a big stick.0:41 "The feast will be right here," he boomed, "in the sunny meadow!" Everyone cheered.0:48 Squeaks and chirps and happy shouts filled the air.0:52 But Hattie… Hattie heard something else.0:56 Underneath all the happy sounds, she heard the wind.1:01 It was whispering a new song in the leaves of the tallest oak trees.1:07 It wasn't the warm, sunny-day song.1:10 It was a cool, damp, hurry-home song.1:13 The Great-Gray-Rain-Wind song.1:16 Her heart did a tiny pitter-patter against her ribs.1:20 They couldn't have the feast in the meadow.1:24 All the sweetberries would get soggy.1:28 All her friends would get cold and wet.1:31 She had to tell them.1:33 She took a tiny step forward.1:36 She opened her mouth.1:37 But the sound that came out was just a tiny… squeak.1:42 It was smaller than a cricket's chirp.1:45 It was lost in the noise.1:48 She tried again.1:49 She puffed up her chest, as much as a little hedgehog can puff.1:55 But all the voices were so BIG.1:57 And hers felt so… small.2:00 It felt like trying to show someone a tiny, beautiful pebble when they were all looking at a mountain.2:09 Here's what that means if you're a shy little hedgehog, or maybe even a shy little person.2:17 It means sometimes you have a very important thought, but it feels like it's locked inside a tiny box in your chest, and you can't find the key.2:29 Hattie looked at all her happy, cheering friends.2:34 She didn't want to spoil their fun.2:37 Maybe she was wrong.2:39 Maybe it was just a normal wind.2:42 But her ears TOLD her it wasn't.2:44 Listening was Hattie's superpower.2:47 She was the best listener in the whole forest.2:52 And she had to trust what she heard.2:55 She pattered over to Barnaby the Badger.2:58 He was very big, and his voice was very loud, but his eyes were very kind.3:05 She didn't try to speak.3:07 Not yet.3:08 She just stood by his big, dusty foot until he finally looked down.3:14 "Oh!3:14 Hello, Hattie," he said, his voice a little softer now.3:19 Hattie looked up at him.3:21 She pointed one tiny claw towards the tall oak trees, and then she cupped her ears.3:29 She looked right into his eyes.3:31 Barnaby frowned.3:33 He looked at the trees.3:35 He tilted his big head.3:37 And for the first time all afternoon, he just… listened.3:42 "Oh," he said.3:43 A deep, rumbling "oh." He put a paw gently on Hattie's back.3:48 "You hear it too, don't you?" he whispered.3:52 Hattie nodded, a big, brave nod.3:55 Barnaby stood up straight.3:57 "QUIET, EVERYONE!" he boomed.4:00 The forest went silent.4:02 "Hattie has something important to share." And so, with everyone listening, Hattie found her voice.4:11 "The rain is coming," she whispered.4:14 "We should have the feast in the big hollow log." And they did.4:20 They moved all the sweetberries and honeycakes into the cozy, dry log.4:26 And just as they were all snuggled inside, the first fat, gray drops of rain began to fall.4:34 Sometimes, the quietest voice is the one everyone needs to hear the most.
