0:00 A garden snail has more than fourteen thousand tiny teeth.0:04 Just like Pip the Badger from our last story, who knew where to find all the best berries, sometimes the smallest creatures have the most surprising secrets.0:18 This story is about a little creature who thought he had no secrets at all.0:24 His name was Barnaby, and he was a small, quiet beetle who lived in a garden filled with wonders.0:33 He loved his home.0:34 He loved the smell of the damp earth after it rained and the feel of a cool leaf on his back.0:42 But sometimes, when he watched his friends, a little worry would wiggle inside him.0:49 His friend, Squeaky the cricket, could fill the whole evening with beautiful music just by rubbing his wings together.1:00 His friend, Beatrice the bee, was always busy, zipping from flower to flower, turning sweet nectar into golden honey.1:10 And Florence the butterfly could paint the air with her colorful, dancing wings.1:16 Barnaby would watch them and think, "What can I do?" He couldn't sing, or make honey, or dance in the sky.1:26 All he could do was crawl along quietly, noticing things that other creatures hurried past.1:33 He felt very plain.1:35 And very, VERY small.1:37 One sunny afternoon, a strong gust of wind swept through the garden.1:43 It wasn't a mean wind, just a playful one.1:46 But it blew a tiny, perfect dandelion seed right out of the grasp of a little ant named Alfie.1:54 It was Alfie's favorite treasure.1:57 He had been carrying it all day, and now it was gone, lost somewhere in the tall green grass.2:05 Alfie was heartbroken.2:07 His little antennae drooped.2:09 Squeaky the cricket saw how sad he was.2:13 "Don't worry, Alfie!2:15 I'll sing you a song to cheer you up!" And he chirped the loudest, happiest song he knew.2:22 But Alfie was too sad to listen.2:25 Then Beatrice the bee flew down.2:28 "Oh, you poor dear," she buzzed.2:30 "Have a little drop of honey.2:33 It will make you feel better." She offered him a tiny, sweet bead of it.2:39 But Alfie was too sad to eat.2:42 Florence the butterfly fluttered around his head, making beautiful patterns in the air.2:49 But Alfie just kept his eyes on the ground, looking for his lost seed.2:55 Nothing seemed to help.2:57 Barnaby had been watching from under a clover leaf.3:01 He saw the big, sad feelings all around his little friend.3:06 He crawled over, slowly and quietly.3:09 He didn't say a word.3:11 He just sat next to Alfie.3:14 He sat there as the sun warmed their backs.3:17 He sat there as a ladybug crawled by.3:20 He just… sat.3:21 Then, because he was always looking at the ground, Barnaby saw something.3:28 Tucked right beside a smooth grey stone, almost invisible, was a single, fluffy dandelion seed.3:36 It was Alfie’s treasure.3:38 Barnaby gently nudged it with his head.3:41 Alfie looked up.3:43 His antennae wiggled.3:45 He saw his seed.3:46 Oh, he was so happy.3:48 He looked at Barnaby, who was still sitting quietly beside him.3:53 He realized that Barnaby hadn't tried to make him feel better.3:58 He had just been there with him while he was sad.4:03 And he had been looking closely, the way he always did.4:07 That quiet looking is what found the lost seed.4:11 Barnaby felt a warm feeling spread through his whole body.4:16 He didn't need to sing or fly to be a good friend.4:21 His special talent was being quiet.4:24 And being kind.4:25 And sometimes, that is the most special talent of all.
