0:00 An Indian drone startup just raised thirty-seven million dollars.0:04 Admin, in our last briefing we talked about the real power moves shaping India's tech scene, and this is exactly it.0:12 Airbound's Series A, led by Greenoaks, isn't just another big number.0:16 It’s a signal that the serious money is shifting from pure software to the hard stuff—the physical, deeptech infrastructure that powers everything else.0:26 And that shift is happening everywhere.0:29 The headlines today are all pointing in the same direction.0:33 Accel just announced a new five-hundred-and-fifty-million-dollar fund for India, and their focus is squarely on AI and deeptech.0:42 That’s a massive bet from a top-tier firm.0:44 Then you have Razorpay, which just launched its own AI foundation model.0:49 Think about that.0:50 It’s trained on four billion payment transactions to get better at spotting fraud and making sure your payments actually go through.0:59 They're not just using an off-the-shelf AI, they’re building their own core intelligence.1:05 And speaking of building, Murf AI, an Indian text-to-speech startup, just launched Falcon 2.1:11 It’s an AI model that’s faster than OpenAI’s and priced at a fifth of the cost.1:17 They are now competing head-to-head with the biggest names in the world on performance and price.1:23 Even in the consumer space, things are getting more serious.1:27 For D2C startups, the bar just got raised.1:30 Investors now expect seed-stage companies to be hitting two to three crore in annual revenue, not just one.1:37 The era of easy growth is officially over; now it's about building a real, profitable business.1:43 Okay, but here’s the turn.1:45 All those stories—the drones, the VC funds, the AI models—they're all symptoms of a much bigger change.1:52 The real story isn't about any single application.1:55 It’s about the fact that India is getting serious about building the entire STACK.2:01 The foundational layer.2:02 The pipes, the picks, and the shovels for the AI gold rush.2:06 Let's start with semiconductors.2:09 For years, this was a distant dream.2:11 Now?2:11 There are twelve approved projects worth over twenty billion dollars.2:16 Three facilities are already in commercial production.2:19 But here's the part that matters: the government's strategy just got a major upgrade.2:25 The new Design Linked Incentive program—DLI 2.0—is no longer just paying startups to design chips.2:32 It’s linking the money to product deployment and actual customer REVENUE.2:37 They don't just want blueprints; they want products in the market.2:41 And private money is following.2:43 Chip startups have raised over two hundred million dollars since 2022, and the first half of this year ALONE accounted for eighty-one percent of all of last year's funding.2:55 Now, the reality check is that exits are still rare.2:58 We've only seen three strategic acquisitions.3:01 So the path to commercial scale is still being built.3:05 But the government is also building the talent pipeline for it.3:09 The Chips to Startup initiative has already deployed design tools to over three hundred universities and trained more than sixty-eight thousand students.3:19 They are building the army before the war has even fully begun.3:23 And then there's the fuel for all this: compute.3:26 The IndiaAI Mission just got a one-point-three-billion-dollar boost to expand its shared GPU capacity to over forty-five thousand units.3:36 Startups and researchers have already used over nine million GPU hours through this program.3:42 This is HUGE.3:43 It means an Indian startup doesn't need to have a billion-dollar valuation to train a world-class AI model anymore.3:50 The government is subsidizing access to the single most critical resource in tech today, creating a level playing field for local innovators to build things like Murf AI's Falcon 2 or Razorpay's payment brain.4:04 So when you see a drone company raising thirty-seven million dollars, it's not an isolated event.4:11 It’s happening because the foundational layers beneath it—the custom chips it might run on, the data centers it connects to, the AI models that guide it—are all being built, right here, right now.4:24 It’s a fundamental pivot from being a market for the world's technology to becoming a builder of the core components themselves.
