0:00 A Hyderabad-based company just signed a three thousand eight hundred crore rupee contract to supply high-precision parts for Rolls-Royce jet engines.0:09 That company, Sigma Advanced Systems, is now a critical piece of Rolls-Royce's global supply chain for the next seven years.0:17 It’s a massive validation of India’s push into advanced manufacturing.0:22 This isn't just about making screws; it's about building trust for the most critical components in the sky.0:29 And while India builds the physical world, the digital one is being completely re-written.0:35 Your entire online shopping experience is about to get automated.0:39 Major platforms like Flipkart, Bigbasket, and Ajio are now racing to build what’s being called “agentic commerce” storefronts—using AI like ChatGPT and Gemini to handle everything from your search to the final payment, all inside a single chat window.0:55 At the same time, the government is paying close attention.0:59 Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman just signaled that a new wave of reforms is coming to ease business compliance, but she ALSO specifically flagged AI-related cybersecurity threats as a top global risk.1:12 She even mentioned direct talks with the US and the AI company Anthropic about its models.1:18 Even as India leans into AI, it's bracing for the blowback.1:22 It’s a theme Google’s own chief scientist, Jeff Dean, hit on.1:26 Speaking in India, he called the country vital for global AI development but put the brakes on the hype, saying true human-level general intelligence is still “several breakthroughs away.” And finally, a big win for Lalit Keshre, the co-founder of Groww, who just picked up Entrepreneur of the Year at the ET Awards for building India’s largest stock-broking platform—a company now valued around one point three-six lakh crore rupees.1:54 Let’s go back to that Sigma deal with Rolls-Royce, because the number—three thousand eight hundred crore—is so big it almost hides the real story.2:03 This isn’t just another outsourcing contract.2:06 According to Sigma’s CEO, Sunil Kumar Kalidindi, this is about a fundamental shift.2:12 He said their goal is to move from being a "system player" to an "integrated manufacturing partner." What does that mean?2:19 It means they’re not just taking orders for parts anymore.2:23 They’re taking on entire work packages, managing bigger chunks of the manufacturing process across both India and the UK.2:31 Think about what that requires.2:33 It’s not just about having the right machines.2:36 It’s about having the quality control, the reliability, and the logistical sophistication that a company like Rolls-Royce—whose reputation rests on engine safety—is willing to bet on for seven years.2:49 This is the kind of deal that changes a company's DNA.2:52 And it sends a signal to every other global aerospace and defense giant that India's manufacturing ecosystem has seriously leveled up.3:01 This isn't a promise anymore; it's a signed contract.3:05 Now, let's look at the other side of the coin: agentic commerce.3:09 This is a much bigger leap than just asking a chatbot where your order is.3:14 The vision here is that you open an AI, say Google Gemini, and type, "I need to buy a new pair of running shoes for a marathon, my budget is ten thousand rupees, and I prefer these three brands." The AI agent doesn't just give you links.3:29 It goes out, finds the options, compares them based on your history, negotiates the best price from a platform like Flipkart or Ajio, and then handles the purchase using something like UPI—all without you ever leaving the chat.3:44 Razorpay is already powering pilots for this with Zomato and Swiggy.3:48 Here's the catch.3:49 Right now, this is a playground for the big guys.3:52 Widespread adoption is still really low.3:55 For this to actually change how everyone shops, it can't just be a feature for Flipkart.4:01 Small businesses need simple, plug-and-play tools to get their products seen by these AI agents.4:07 Without common standards, the AI will just default to the biggest players, and the small D2C brands will be left out.4:14 So while the tech is here, the ecosystem to make it fair and accessible… isn’t.4:20 So you have these two massive shifts happening at once.4:23 One is grounded in the physical world—forging high-precision metal, built on decades of engineering and trust.4:30 The other is completely virtual—AI agents moving through digital marketplaces at the speed of light.4:37 One is happening now, secured by a multi-billion dollar contract.4:41 The other is a glimpse of a future that's still being built, with all the messy questions about access and power that come with it.4:49 India is mastering both atoms and bits, at the exact same time.
