0:00 Indian AI startups have raised one-point-five-six billion dollars just through August twentieth of this year.0:07 Yesterday we talked about India's tech surge, but these new numbers show it's not just a surge—it’s a firehose of cash aimed squarely at artificial intelligence, nearly matching the entire one-point-seven-one billion raised in all of 2025.0:23 And we still have four months to go.0:25 So what else is moving?0:27 Let's do a quick sweep.0:28 Semiconductors are getting a piece of the action.0:32 A deep-tech startup called Makr Microsystems just raised ten-point-two crore rupees.0:37 They don't make chips; they're building the tech to INSPECT them, which is a critical piece of the puzzle nobody talks about.0:46 Bluehill VC led that round.0:48 Then you have more AI money, but at the other end of the scale.0:52 Oppex AI, a much earlier stage company, just pulled in four-point-two crore in a pre-seed round from Info Edge Ventures.1:00 This comes as reports are now saying India leads the entire world in AI adoption.1:05 It's not just about funding, though.1:08 It's about the pipeline.1:09 NIELIT and Intel India just launched two new 'Agentic AI' skilling programs.1:14 This is a direct attempt to build the workforce needed to actually use all this new technology.1:21 Meanwhile, for companies already up and running, Coforge just launched something called AI Launchpad, a platform to help enterprises build and operate their own internal AI.1:33 And way out on the horizon, Amaravati is set to get India’s first quantum-AI university.1:38 Classes are supposedly starting this month in a temporary space.1:43 This is a long-term, government-backed play.1:46 Finally, keep an eye on the U.S.1:48 The Senate is about to vote on a major digital assets bill called the CLARITY Act.1:53 It’s designed to bring clear rules to the crypto space over there.1:58 Why does that matter to you?2:00 Because global frameworks like this almost always influence how India approaches its own regulations.2:06 It sets a standard, and it could change how investors here think about risk.2:12 Okay, let's go back to that one-point-five-six billion dollar number for AI funding.2:17 Because the headline figure is big, but what's underneath it is way more important.2:23 AI isn't just getting more venture capital.2:26 It's actively taking it from other sectors.2:29 Last year, AI deals made up about fifteen percent of the total VC funding by value.2:34 This year?2:35 It’s TWENTY-THREE percent.2:37 That's a massive shift.2:38 And it's not just a few huge deals skewing the numbers.2:42 Look at the volume.2:43 The number of AI deals has jumped from about a quarter of all deals to almost a THIRD.2:49 So VCs aren't just writing bigger checks to AI companies; they're doing more AI deals, period.2:55 This is what a capital reallocation looks like in real time.2:59 Money is being pulled from other potential investments and funnelled into this one category.3:05 You're seeing it at every level.3:08 You have the giants like Emergent and Neysa raising huge rounds, and you have companies like mstack AI and UnifyApps out there right now seeking fifty to eighty million dollars.3:20 But you also have that four-point-two crore pre-seed round for Oppex AI.3:24 The entire funding ladder, from the first step to the top floor, is being rebuilt around AI.3:31 But here’s the other side of that coin.3:33 The Makr Microsystems deal.3:35 Ten-point-two crore — it’s a rounding error compared to the AI funding.3:40 So why does it matter?3:41 Because building a real tech ecosystem can't just be about software and algorithms.3:47 You need hardware.3:48 You need the deep, difficult, unglamorous tech.3:51 Makr Microsystems is building metrology tools.3:54 That’s the equipment that ensures a semiconductor chip is made correctly.3:59 Without inspection, you can't have production.4:02 It’s a foundational layer.4:04 And that’s the tension you need to watch.4:07 On one hand, you have this explosive, almost frantic gold rush into AI software.4:12 It's fast, it's scalable, and it's attracting a tidal wave of capital.4:17 On the other, you have the slow, methodical, capital-intensive work of building out the hardware and deep-tech sector.4:25 One is a sprint, the other is a marathon.4:28 The AI boom is happening now.4:30 It's undeniable.4:31 But the quiet funding of a company like Makr Microsystems, or the launch of a quantum-AI university, these are bets on what India will need in ten or twenty years.4:42 So the real question isn't just "where is the money going?" It's "what kind of future is that money trying to build?" One is happening at lightning speed.4:52 The other is being built one specialized, essential, and difficult piece at a time.
