0:00 Two Indian startups are putting data-center-grade GPUs on a satellite and launching it into orbit this year.0:06 Yesterday on the show, we were talking about finding real AI shifts beyond the hype...0:12 well, how about sovereign AI models running in space?0:15 Because that's what's happening.0:17 Okay, so that's the headline that scrambles your brain a bit.0:21 But it's not the only thing moving today.0:24 The markets are lighting up.0:25 A Swedish private equity firm, EQT Partners, is taking its India-focused AI and BPO platform, Straive, public.0:32 We're talking a four-hundred-million-dollar IPO at a two-point-five BILLION dollar valuation.0:38 The draft prospectus is expected in September.0:41 This is a massive signal of investor confidence in the Indian AI services story.0:46 And speaking of confidence, the funding taps are wide open.0:50 FinTechs pulled in nearly a billion dollars in June.0:53 But here's the real story behind that number—it wasn't a dozen companies.0:58 It was basically ONE.0:59 CRED just closed a nine-hundred-million-dollar mega-round.1:03 That one deal accounts for almost the entire month's funding.1:06 It shows you exactly where the big, concentrated bets are being placed.1:11 Meanwhile, new money is entering the game.1:14 B Capital, the firm co-founded by Facebook's Eduardo Saverin, just closed a half-a-billion-dollar fund.1:20 Specifically for early-stage Indian startups in AI, robotics, and deeptech.1:25 So you have the public markets betting big, the late-stage private funds making massive bets, and now a fresh wave of early-stage capital is coming in, looking for the next big thing.1:36 Oh, and Naukri, the job platform, finally rolled out a suite of AI-powered recruitment tools.1:42 It’s a bit late to the party, but it shows even the giants are having to adapt.1:47 So let's go back to that satellite for a second.1:50 Because this is more than just a cool science project.1:54 The companies are Pixxel and Sarvam AI.1:56 And what they're building, this "Pathfinder" satellite...2:00 it's not just about taking pictures.2:02 It's about building compute infrastructure IN orbit.2:05 Here's the part that really matters.2:07 Why put a data center in space?2:09 Two reasons.2:10 First, cooling.2:11 Data centers on Earth burn incredible amounts of energy just to keep the GPUs from melting.2:17 In low earth orbit, you have near-constant solar power and the vacuum of space is a pretty effective, uh, heat sink.2:24 It's a radically different way to solve a massive terrestrial problem.2:29 But the second reason is the game-changer.2:31 The satellite will be able to run sovereign AI models and process its own hyperspectral imagery directly in orbit.2:38 Think about what that means.2:40 Right now, satellites collect petabytes of data and have to beam it all down to Earth to be processed.2:47 It's a huge bottleneck.2:48 This new satellite does the thinking UP there.2:51 It only sends down the answer, the insight, the finished product.2:55 It's the difference between mailing someone a whole library versus just sending them the one sentence they need.3:02 This isn't just an iteration.3:04 It's a fundamental shift in how we use space.3:07 And this connects directly to the money story.3:10 The CRED mega-round, the Straive IPO...3:12 they look like different things, but they're not.3:15 They're all bets on India building its own, full-stack technology infrastructure.3:20 CRED isn't just a credit card app; it's building a new layer of financial services for India's elite.3:27 Straive isn't just a BPO; it's an AI platform that other global companies are now willing to pay a public market premium for.3:35 And B Capital's new fund?3:36 It's explicitly looking for these "India-for-India" opportunities in deep tech.3:41 For years, the story was about Indian startups trying to expand globally.3:46 And that's still a challenge.3:48 But what's different TODAY is the sheer scale of the ambition to build the core infrastructure for India itself.3:55 From financial rails to HR tech to literally putting sovereign AI in the sky.3:59 The innovation is no longer just happening in software or services.4:04 It's happening at the hardware and infrastructure level.4:07 India isn't just adopting technology anymore; it's starting to build the foundational platforms that the next generation of technology will run on.
