0:00 A major startup summit, ASCEND-2026, just wrapped up in Srinagar on Friday.0:04 Just last week in episode ninety we were talking about Odisha getting its first AI data center—well, this summit is ANOTHER sign that the map of Indian tech is being redrawn, way beyond the usual hubs.0:17 It's a signal that the next wave of innovation might not come from where you expect.0:22 So here’s the lay of the land today.0:24 First, the AI money firehose is still on full blast.0:27 Two more Indian AI startups, Emergent and Sarvam AI, just officially hit unicorn status.0:33 These aren't consumer apps; this is the heavy-duty infrastructure and enterprise software that everyone else will build on top of.0:41 And it's not just domestic cash.0:43 Foreign institutional investors are doubling down, chasing multibagger stocks that are up two hundred percent just this year.0:51 The global market sees India as a core part of the AI future.0:54 At the same time, Myntra is showing what all this AI is actually for.0:59 They've used it to cut the time it takes to get a new seller onto their platform from weeks...1:04 down to less than TWO days.1:06 Think about that.1:07 It's a massive operational leap, all handled by AI that automates catalog creation, with humans still in the loop for oversight.1:15 It’s a quiet, unglamorous change that completely transforms their marketplace efficiency.1:21 But here’s the first real sign of a potential cooldown.1:24 A really notable AI player, DeepSeek, just told its prospective investors that it's pausing its current funding round.1:31 That's a move that gets people talking, because it runs completely counter to the "growth at all costs" narrative.1:38 Okay, so let's unpack that, because you have these two things happening at once.1:43 On one hand, you've got Emergent and Sarvam AI practically printing money, reaching billion-dollar valuations.1:50 The hype is absolutely real.1:52 Investors are terrified of missing the next big AI infrastructure play, and companies like UnifyApps are already lining up their own big-ticket funding rounds.2:02 The capital is there.2:03 But then you have DeepSeek hitting the brakes.2:06 And DeepSeek is not a small-time player.2:08 When a company like that says 'not right now' to new cash, it's not because they can't get it.2:14 It means they're being strategic.2:16 It tells you the market is starting to shift.2:19 We're moving out of the 'fund EVERYTHING with AI in the name' phase...2:24 and into the 'fund the RIGHT things' phase.2:26 It suggests a recalibration.2:28 Maybe valuations got a little ahead of themselves, or maybe they see a better strategic path than just taking more money right now.2:36 This is the beginning of the market getting smarter.2:39 And while the money gets smarter, the innovation itself is getting geographically wider.2:45 That summit in Srinagar is so much more than just another conference.2:49 For years, 'Indian tech' meant Bengaluru, maybe Hyderabad, maybe Gurgaon.2:54 What we just saw at ASCEND-2026 were young entrepreneurs solving deeply local problems with global-grade tech.3:00 I'm talking about AI-powered pesticide machines to help farmers optimize their crops.3:06 I'm talking about smart waste management solutions designed for the unique challenges of the region's cities.3:12 Several of these startups walked away with seed funding right there at the summit.3:17 This isn't just about a few founders getting a check.3:21 It's about a whole new region plugging into the national tech grid.3:25 It finds talent that would've been completely overlooked five years ago.3:29 It proves the innovation engine isn't confined to a few elite postcodes anymore.3:34 So you have these two powerful currents moving at the same time.3:38 The AI investment wave isn't stopping, but it IS getting narrower and deeper, focusing on proven value and strategic fit.3:46 And at the exact same moment, the geographic map of where Indian innovation actually happens is getting wider than it has ever been.3:54 The money is getting more concentrated, but the ideas are spreading out.
