0:00 An app that makes your MacBook moan when you slap it just sold over two thousand licenses.0:06 It’s called SlapMac, it has thirty thousand downloads, and it got over ten million views on X from reposts alone.0:13 This is what’s topping the charts on Product Hunt today.0:17 Of course, the rest of the leaderboard looks exactly like you’d expect.0:22 You’ve got the heavyweights—Intercom and HubSpot—both pushing their AI-first platforms.0:28 They’re not just adding AI features anymore; they’re reframing their entire value proposition around it.0:35 Intercom is all about “AI-first customer support,” and HubSpot is weaving AI into every part of its marketing and sales stack.0:43 Then you have the data-driven sales tools.0:46 Apollo dot-io is claiming it has actionable info on two hundred fifty million buyers.0:52 Not to be outdone, Clay is promising access to seven hundred seventy million people from LinkedIn, explicitly telling founders to stop using Upwork for prospecting.1:03 And finally, there’s a new wave of productivity tools trying to embed AI directly into workflows we already use.1:10 Tictable is making spreadsheets AI-powered, and MeetMinutes is using Bill Gates’ note-taking method...1:17 with an agentic AI.1:18 So, you know.1:19 Everyone’s trying to solve a real problem.1:22 Except for SlapMac.1:23 Let’s go back to that for a second.1:26 The creator, Tonino Catapano, literally said in his launch post, "Have you ever wanted to slap your Macbook and hear it moan?1:34 Me neither." He admits it solves a problem that doesn't exist.1:38 So why did it work?1:40 He saw a viral video, took the core idea, and turned it into a shippable product in twenty-four hours.1:47 Twenty.1:47 Four.1:47 Hours.1:48 He didn't overthink it.1:49 He didn't build a roadmap.1:51 He saw a distribution wave and he built a surfboard—fast.1:55 And people are paying for it.1:57 It's a perfect execution of a simple, ridiculous idea.2:01 Now, contrast that with a tool like Clay.2:03 Clay is solving a massive, expensive, and deeply un-sexy problem for founders: how do you find the right customers without hiring an army of virtual assistants or burning your engineering team’s time on internal tools?2:18 They’re building a huge data asset and a complex workflow engine.2:22 This is the classic playbook—find a huge pain point, build a robust technical solution, and go after a multi-billion-dollar market.2:31 It’s the polar opposite of SlapMac’s viral-joke-as-a-service model.2:36 One is a vitamin, the other is a painkiller...2:39 and SlapMac is just candy.2:41 So what's the actual signal here?2:43 For us?2:43 It's that the market is rewarding two very different things right now: massive, complex solutions to hard problems...2:51 and incredibly simple, perfectly executed novelties.2:55 The common denominator isn’t the problem, it’s the execution.2:59 The question for a builder isn't just "what problem are you solving?" It's also "how fast can you ship something that someone, somewhere, will find undeniable?" Whether that thing is the future of B2B sales or just a dumb joke that makes you laugh.
