he who keeps you will not slumber.0:28 Behold, he who keeps Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.0:33 The LORD is your keeper;
the LORD is your shade on your right hand.0:39 The sun shall not strike you by day,
nor the moon by night.0:44 The LORD will keep you from all evil;
he will keep your life.0:48 The LORD will keep your watch over your going out and your coming in,
from this time forth and forevermore.0:57 The Psalm opens with a question we all ask, especially on mornings when the day ahead feels like a mountain to climb.1:07 "I lift up my eyes to the hills.1:09 From where does my help come?" It's a moment of feeling small, of seeing the challenge in front of you and wondering if you have what it takes.1:21 You might be looking at a packed calendar, a difficult conversation, or just the quiet weight of your own worries.1:30 The question is honest.1:32 It’s real.1:33 And the answer is immediate.1:35 "My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth." This isn't just a hopeful wish.1:42 It’s a statement of fact.1:44 The source of your help is not limited like we are.1:49 It comes from the one whose power is so vast, it brought the entire universe into being.1:56 If you feel small today, remember your help comes from the one who made the very hills that seem so imposing.2:05 Then we get this incredible promise of constant watchfulness.2:10 "He who keeps you will not slumber...2:13 will neither slumber nor sleep." Think about that for a moment.2:18 We get tired.2:19 We lose focus.2:20 We have to check out and rest.2:22 Our friends, our family, our colleagues—they all have limits.2:27 But God does not.2:29 He is never offline.2:30 He never gets distracted.2:32 He never clocks out.2:34 Here’s what that means for you today.2:37 It means you can let go of the burden of being your own sole protector.2:43 If you're a parent, you can entrust your children to His care even when they are out of your sight.2:51 If you're facing a high-stakes project, you can do your best work and then rest, knowing the ultimate outcome is in a hand that is never unsteady.3:03 You are being watched over, constantly, by a loving guardian who never needs a break.3:10 The Psalm then gets even more specific.3:13 "The LORD is your shade on your right hand.3:16 The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night." The sun represents the challenges you can see coming.3:26 That’s the heat of a deadline, the glare of criticism, the pressure of a performance review.3:33 It's the obvious, draining, daily grind.3:36 He promises to be your shade, to protect you from being scorched by the visible pressures of your day.3:45 But he also protects you from the "moon by night." Those are the fears that you can’t always see.3:53 The anxieties that creep in when the house is quiet.3:57 The worries about the future, the "what ifs" that steal your peace while you try to sleep.4:04 His protection isn't just for the battles you fight in the light.4:09 It covers the fears that haunt you in the dark.4:13 And finally, the Psalm brings this promise right into your present moment.4:19 "The LORD will keep your watch over your going out and your coming in." This is about today.4:27 Right now.4:28 Your "going out" is your commute to work.4:31 It's walking into that meeting.4:33 It's dropping your kids off at school.4:36 Your "coming in" is your return home, tired and ready for rest.4:42 Every transition, every journey, every single step between leaving and arriving is under His watchful eye.4:50 So as you step into your day, remember this.4:54 You do not go alone.4:55 The one who made the heavens is watching over your every step.
