0:00 The strongest bridges in the world are designed to sway.0:04 They bend with the wind and shift with the earth, because perfect rigidity is actually a form of fragility.0:14 That idea of strength through flexibility connects directly to our last conversation, in episode seventy-eight, about finding peace in the middle of uncertainty.0:27 Today, we go a little deeper with this verse from the second letter to the Corinthians.0:35 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.0:52 Let's sit with that for a moment.0:55 Three distinct movements.0:57 First, the promise.0:59 “My grace is sufficient for you.” The word “sufficient” can feel a little underwhelming.1:06 Like getting just enough food to not be hungry, or just enough money to pay the bill.1:14 But the original Greek word here is arkeō.1:17 It doesn't just mean "enough." It means to be strong enough, to ward off, to be completely adequate for the need.1:27 It’s a word with strength in it.1:30 So God’s grace isn’t just a band-aid for your struggles.1:34 It is the answer.1:36 It is the resource that is perfectly and completely matched to the demand you are facing.1:44 Here's what that means for you today.1:47 If you're looking at your to-do list, or a difficult conversation, or just the challenge of getting out of bed, you might feel like you don’t have what it takes.2:01 And the good news is, you don’t have to.2:04 The grace is sufficient.2:06 It’s not something you earn or generate.2:10 It's a gift, already present, waiting to be received.2:14 The question isn't whether you have enough strength.2:19 The question is whether you will accept the strength that is being offered.2:25 Then comes the second part, which is a paradox.2:29 “For my power is made perfect in weakness.” This is one of the most counter-cultural ideas in all of scripture.2:39 We are taught to hide our weaknesses.2:42 To project strength, competence, and control.2:46 We build walls around our insecurities and our fears.2:51 We think our strength is what makes us useful to God.2:55 But this verse says the opposite.2:58 It says God's power isn't just present in our weakness, it is perfected there.3:05 It reaches its intended fulfillment in that space.3:09 Think of it like a stained-glass window.3:12 The window is most beautiful when light shines through the cracks, through the places where the glass was broken and put back together.3:24 The light isn't hindered by the lines and the lead—it’s made beautiful by them.3:31 Here's what that means for you.3:34 Your weakness is not a disqualifier.3:37 It is the very stage on which God’s power can be most clearly seen.3:42 When we are strong and successful in our own power, we get the credit.3:48 Our ego gets the credit.3:51 But when we are weak, when we are at the end of our rope, and something powerful and good still happens—no one can mistake where that power came from.4:03 Your vulnerability creates an empty space that only He can fill.4:09 And that leads to the final part.4:12 The response.4:13 “Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” This sounds crazy at first.4:24 Boast about weakness?4:26 Why would anyone do that?4:28 Boasting here doesn't mean complaining or seeking pity.4:33 It means being honest.4:35 It means dropping the pretense.4:38 It’s the courage to say, “I don’t have this all figured out.” Or, “I’m scared.” Or, “I need help.” It is the opposite of the polished, perfect life we see on social media.4:52 It's authentic.4:54 It's real.4:55 And according to this verse, it's an invitation.4:59 When you "boast" in your weakness, you are laying down a welcome mat for the power of Christ to come and "rest" on you.5:09 The word for rest here is like pitching a tent.5:13 You are inviting his power to move in.5:16 So today, when you feel that moment of inadequacy, that twinge of fear, that sense of being overwhelmed—don't push it away.5:27 Don't numb it.5:28 See it for what it is.5:30 It's an opportunity.5:32 Your weakness is not a liability to be hidden.5:36 Today, it is the very place God has chosen to display his strength.
