0:00 The average person makes about thirty-five thousand decisions every single day.0:06 From what to eat, to what to say in that difficult conversation, to how to solve a problem at work.0:14 That sheer volume of choice is draining.0:17 In our last time together, we spoke about finding stillness in life's waiting seasons.0:24 Today, I want to talk about where we find the strength to endure not just the waiting, but the daily weariness that comes with it.0:34 A verse from the prophet Isaiah offers a beautiful promise for this.0:39 It's from chapter forty, verse thirty-one.0:43 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.0:56 This is such a well-loved verse.0:58 And for good reason.1:00 It speaks directly to that feeling of being completely spent, of having nothing left in the tank.1:08 But the key that unlocks the entire promise is in the very first phrase: "they who wait for the Lord." I think we often misunderstand what this "waiting" really is.1:21 We imagine it as passive.1:23 Sitting in a cosmic waiting room, hoping our number gets called.1:28 But the original language suggests something much more active.1:33 It’s a picture of binding yourself to something, of twisting your own rope together with a stronger one.1:41 It is an active, expectant trust.1:43 Here's what that means if you're feeling burned out.1:47 This kind of waiting isn't about stopping your work.1:52 It's about pausing the ANXIETY that drives it.1:55 It’s taking a moment, before the next email or the next meeting, to consciously place your trust in a strength that isn't your own.2:06 It’s a quiet, internal pivot from "I have to do this all by myself" to "God, I am trusting you for the strength to do this." It's not an abdication of responsibility.2:19 It's an invitation for divine ability.2:22 It changes the source of your energy.2:25 And notice the kind of strength this waiting produces.2:29 It’s not a one-size-fits-all solution.2:32 The promise unfolds in three beautiful, distinct ways.2:36 First, "they shall mount up with wings like eagles." This is for the moments of vision and breakthrough.2:45 When you need to rise above the noise and see the bigger picture.2:50 An eagle doesn't fight the wind.2:52 It USES the wind.2:54 It catches the thermal currents and soars almost without effort.2:59 Renewed strength, in this sense, is learning to catch the updraft of God's spirit, letting it lift you above the immediate struggle.3:09 Then, "they shall run and not be weary." This is the strength of endurance.3:15 This is for the marathon of daily life—the steady pace of parenting, of a long project at work, of caring for a loved one.3:25 It’s not about a dramatic, soaring flight.3:28 It’s about the faithful, consistent pace.3:31 It’s the grace to keep going, day after day, without letting the grind wear you down to your soul.3:39 And finally, "they shall walk and not faint." To me, this is the most tender part of the promise.3:47 Because some days, we can’t soar.3:49 We can’t even run.3:51 Some days, just putting one foot in front of the other is a monumental victory.3:57 Here's what that means if you're in a season of deep struggle or grief.4:03 The promise covers you, too.4:05 God's strength is not just for your best days.4:09 It is especially for your hardest ones.4:12 It is the grace to simply walk, to take the next right step, and not collapse.4:18 It is a promise of presence and persistence when that is all you have the strength to ask for.4:25 So the invitation today is not to try harder.4:29 It’s not to muscle through your exhaustion on your own power.4:34 That well will always run dry.4:36 The invitation is to wait.4:38 To actively, expectantly tie your own depleted strength to a source that never runs out.4:45 Whether you need to soar like an eagle, run your daily race, or simply walk without fainting—the strength you need is not found in digging deeper into your own reserves.4:58 It is found in looking up.
