About this episode
Each week, join a kid hero as wild, unbelievable wonders unfold—and only they can save the day!
0:00
The shadow of the town clock tower folded itself into a paper airplane.
0:06
And just flew away.
0:08
This was even weirder than last week, when Pip had to solve the Case of the Vanishing Reflections.
0:16
At least then, things were just gone.
0:20
Now… they were alive.
0:22
A dog's shadow started chasing a cat's shadow—while the real animals were fast asleep!
0:29
Pip saw it happen.
0:31
Then a bicycle's shadow peeled itself off the pavement and slithered up a wall.
0:38
It was hilarious!
0:39
For about five minutes.
0:41
Then it wasn't.
0:43
Shadows started tying shoelaces together.
0:46
Trip.
0:47
Whoops.
0:48
Oof.
0:48
People were falling everywhere.
0:51
The shadow of a lamppost bent over and started gobbling up streetlights like spaghetti.
0:58
The town square went dark.
1:01
A little girl’s shadow ran away from her and hid at the top of a tree.
1:07
She was crying, pointing.
1:09
“My shadow!
1:10
It left me!” It was total chaos!
1:13
Everyone was scared.
1:15
And the shadows… they just kept going.
1:18
They were having the time of their lives.
1:22
And their fun was getting dangerous.
1:25
The shadow of the fire truck started spraying shadow water all over everything, making the whole world feel cold and damp.
1:36
Pip was hiding behind a mailbox, watching the shadow of a grumpy old badger terrorize the pigeons.
1:45
But then Pip saw it.
1:47
The shadows weren't just being mean.
1:50
They were...
1:51
playing.
1:52
Badly.
1:52
They were copying things they’d seen kids do.
1:56
They were copying things they’d seen grown-ups do.
2:01
They didn't know any better!
2:03
And they were all attracted to the brightest things they could find—shiny doorknobs, car bumpers, store windows.
2:13
They weren't running from the light.
2:17
They were trying to get to it.
2:19
Pip had an idea.
2:21
A brilliant, dazzling, absolutely bonkers idea.
2:25
Pip ran to the center of the square.
2:28
“EVERYONE!
2:29
I NEED YOUR PHONES!” People stared.
2:32
But they did it.
2:34
One by one, they tossed their phones to Pip, who caught them like a juggling superstar.
2:41
Pip turned on every single flashlight.
2:45
Then, standing on the edge of the big stone fountain, Pip yelled, “HEY!
2:51
SHADOWS!
2:52
LOOK AT THIS!” A hundred tiny beams of light shot out from the fountain, pointing in every direction.
3:01
It was like a supernova of selfies.
3:04
The shadows stopped.
3:06
Every single one of them.
3:08
They turned.
3:09
They saw the beautiful, wonderful light.
3:13
And with a great big WHOOSH, they raced towards it.
3:17
As each beam of light passed over a person, their shadow snapped back into place.
3:24
Click.
3:25
Click.
3:25
Click.
3:26
The lamppost shadow spit out the streetlights.
3:30
The little girl’s shadow slid down the tree and gave her a shadowy hug.
3:36
The world was right again.
3:39
It was quiet.
3:40
And for just a second, before it settled back at Pip’s feet… Pip’s own shadow waved.
