0:00 President Trump's approval rating just hit thirty-three percent, the lowest of his presidency.0:05 In yesterday's briefing, Admin, we focused on delivering the facts.0:09 Today, we're watching the fallout from a president who seems to be ignoring them, starting with a proposed act of geopolitical fantasy that has Iran openly mocking the White House.0:20 Here's the rundown.0:22 First, the big one: Trump proposed declaring the Strait of Hormuz a U.S.0:26 territory.0:27 Iran's response was swift and dismissive, calling it "fanciful delusions" and stating the strait "will remain under its control." This isn't happening in a vacuum.0:37 U.S.0:37 crude oil stockpiles just fell by three hundred twenty-eight thousand barrels as Iranian attacks on ships in that very strait have increased, with no U.S.0:46 military response.0:47 Meanwhile, the trade war is entering a new phase.0:50 The administration is preparing targeted tariffs on drones and enforcing stricter rules of origin.0:56 This isn't the broad-brush approach of the past.0:59 It's a more surgical, interventionist policy designed to protect specific industries.1:05 But the data shows the old strategy failed—it didn't reduce the overall trade deficit and it undermined global trust.1:12 And while the administration picks new trade fights, the U.S.1:16 economy itself is sending mixed signals.1:18 The labor market is firm and inflation is moderating.1:21 But fixed income markets are seeing serious volatility.1:25 There's resilience, but there's also risk.1:27 Finally, in the tech world, something foundational just shifted.1:31 Nvidia closed a 500-billion-dollar deal related to AI.1:34 This isn't just another big number.1:37 The goal is to make AI compute an asset class of its own—like real estate or gold.1:42 It’s a tectonic move that will reshape the entire sector.1:45 Okay, let's go deeper on the two stories that define this moment: the nation's balance sheet and its military posture.1:52 Because right now, they are on a collision course.1:55 The U.S.1:56 national debt is closing in on FORTY TRILLION DOLLARS.1:59 Let that number sink in.2:01 The Government Accountability Office projects twenty-two trillion in cumulative deficits over the next decade alone.2:08 By 2036, the debt is projected to be one hundred twenty-three percent of the entire U.S.2:13 economy.2:14 And within thirty years?2:15 Two hundred fifty-one percent.2:17 Here's what that actually means for you.2:19 It's not just an abstract number.2:21 As senior fellow Otaviano Canuto put it, this trajectory is simply "unsustainable." Higher interest rates are needed to attract buyers for all this debt.2:31 And those rising debt payments are now crowding out everything else.2:35 Every dollar spent on interest is a dollar NOT spent on infrastructure, research, or defense.2:41 It shrinks our fiscal flexibility.2:43 And it dramatically increases the risk of a U.S.2:46 credit rating downgrade, which would make borrowing even more expensive.2:50 It's a feedback loop.2:51 A debt spiral.2:52 Now, hold that thought—a nation fiscally overextended, with borrowing costs rising.2:57 And look at what the White House just proposed.3:00 Declaring sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.3:03 One of the most critical maritime chokepoints on the planet.3:07 This isn't a strategy.3:08 It's a provocation without a plan.3:10 Iran's response wasn't diplomatic hedging.3:13 It was a flat-out rejection.3:15 "Fanciful delusions." They are not taking it seriously because they see the same thing the bond markets see: a gap between American rhetoric and American capacity.3:25 While the U.S.3:26 makes territorial claims, Iranian forces are actively attacking ships in the strait.3:31 And the U.S.3:31 military...3:32 is not responding.3:33 The bluff is being called in real time.3:36 This is the core tension.3:37 A thirty-three percent approval rating isn't just about personality.3:41 It reflects a growing public awareness of this disconnect.3:45 You can't project infinite strength abroad while your economic foundation is cracking at home.3:51 The aggressive tariffs haven't worked.3:53 The trade deficit hasn't shrunk.3:55 And now, the administration is making promises in the Persian Gulf that it appears to have neither the political capital nor the financial runway to keep.4:04 The story isn't the claim over a strait.4:07 It's the credibility of the nation making it.4:10 And that credibility is being eroded by trillions of dollars in debt and a foreign policy built on assertion rather than power.4:17 The world is watching, and they are doing the math.
