The statement signals a hardening of the American position, shifting from coercive diplomacy to economic strangulation.0:57 Two.0:57 In response, US Central Command head Admiral Brad Cooper is scheduled to brief the president today on a new slate of military options.1:08 Those options reportedly include a plan for a “short and powerful” wave of strikes against Iranian infrastructure.1:18 The briefing materials also include the potential deployment of the Army’s Dark Eagle hypersonic missile to the region.1:28 This would mark the first time such a weapon has been staged in the Middle East.1:34 Three.1:35 The immediate market reaction was severe.1:38 Brent crude oil just surged to a four-year high, touching one hundred twenty-six dollars a barrel before settling near one hundred twenty-two.1:50 West Texas Intermediate is trading above one hundred seven.1:55 The blockade has now removed an estimated one billion barrels from the global supply.2:02 The International Energy Agency is calling it the biggest energy supply shock in history.2:09 Four.2:10 The White House just escalated its economic pressure campaign.2:15 The Justice Department is now seeking the forfeiture of two Iran-linked oil tankers seized by the Navy during the blockade.2:25 This moves the conflict from a military interdiction to a legal seizure of assets, setting a new precedent for sanctions enforcement.2:36 Five.2:37 Iran’s leadership shows no sign of capitulating.2:41 Mohsen Rezaee, a key military adviser, went on state television to vow retaliation if the blockade continues.2:50 Simultaneously, the Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, accused Trump of trying to force Iran’s surrender by creating internal divisions.3:03 The messaging suggests Tehran is preparing its population for a protracted conflict.3:10 Six.3:10 American allies are refusing to join any potential military campaign.3:16 The Wall Street Journal reports that despite a worldwide push by US embassies, key European and Asian partners have declined to commit forces.3:28 The US is now attempting to build a more limited coalition focused on diplomacy and intelligence sharing, but the lack of military support leaves Washington acting largely alone.3:42 Seven.3:43 Back at home, the stock market is showing signs of deep uncertainty.3:48 While the S&P 500 and Dow Jones posted slight gains today, the tech-heavy Nasdaq fell, along with most major cryptocurrencies.3:59 The split decision indicates investors are rewarding old-economy sectors that benefit from rising energy prices, while fleeing from assets sensitive to geopolitical risk.4:13 Eight.4:14 The view from commodity traders is turning grim.4:18 Robert Rennie at Westpac Banking Corp noted that the market is now confronting an "uglier reality." His analysis is that both sides still believe they are winning, which means neither has a clear incentive to negotiate.4:36 The direct implication is that energy prices have only just begun their upward climb.4:43 Nine.4:43 Iranian officials have stopped all back-channel communications.4:48 Sources in both London and Muscat confirm that diplomatic feelers, which had been active as recently as last week, have now gone silent.5:00 Tehran is publicly stating it will not restart any negotiations as long as the blockade is in place, effectively creating a complete diplomatic stalemate.5:12 Ten.5:13 And finally, energy policy experts are now forecasting the next stage of this crisis.5:20 Karen Young, a scholar at Columbia University’s Center on Global Energy Policy, stated on Bloomberg TV that the only remaining variable is pain.5:32 In her words, "Price pressure just has to mount until we get to some demand destruction." This means the conflict no longer ends with a deal.5:44 It ends when the global economy starts to break.
