0:00 The U.S.0:00 national debt is about to cross forty trillion dollars.0:04 That’s not a forecast.0:05 That’s the trajectory.0:06 And it’s putting the entire U.S.0:09 government’s ability to borrow money at risk.0:11 Admin, in our last briefing we touched on the Supreme Court.0:15 Well, the pressure on that institution just intensified.0:19 The system is being tested from all sides.0:22 Here's the rundown.0:23 First, that forty trillion dollar debt.0:26 It represents a severe, structural fiscal stress.0:29 The question is no longer if it becomes a crisis, but when.0:33 Second, the Supreme Court.0:34 Public approval is sinking.0:36 President Trump’s repeated attacks are framing the Court as a political player, not a neutral arbiter, right as the 2026 midterms heat up.0:45 This is a direct challenge to judicial legitimacy.0:48 Third, President Trump just completed a secret trip from Turkey to the United Kingdom.0:54 It was related to an unresolved overseas war, and it highlights the growing tension between what the White House says and what the institutions of government are actually doing.1:05 Fourth, Iran.1:06 The President says he’s “low keying it” and just “watching Iran with its huge inflation.” That’s code.1:13 It signals a strategy of pure economic pressure over new strikes, with Hormuz negotiations completely stalled.1:20 Next, the Senate is finally moving closer to a vote on sweeping cryptocurrency regulation.1:26 This has been talked about for years.1:28 Now, it’s on the floor, and it will require bipartisan support to pass, forcing a moment of truth on a deeply divided issue.1:36 And while Washington wrestles with crypto, global central banks are making their own moves.1:42 A new report shows thirty percent of them plan to increase their gold holdings in the next one to two years.1:49 That’s not a market trend.1:51 That is a STRUCTURAL shift away from the U.S.1:54 dollar.1:54 Finally, cannabis.1:56 The Trump administration’s accelerated rescheduling policies are now facing major federal legal challenges.2:03 At the same time, the issue is popping up on state ballots in Massachusetts and Idaho, and dominating gubernatorial debates in Kansas and Iowa.2:12 The country is having two very different conversations about the same plant.2:17 Okay, let's go deeper on two of those stories, because they get to the heart of the matter.2:23 The Supreme Court and the cannabis fight.2:25 They look separate, but they are two sides of the same coin: a test of America's core institutions.2:32 First, the Court.2:33 The polls are not just numbers.2:35 They are a symptom of a legitimacy crisis.2:38 According to Yahoo Finance, the court’s approval is tanking as we hurtle toward a midterm election where the court itself is a central issue.2:47 Democrats are campaigning on it.2:49 Trump is attacking it.2:50 The Court is being pulled from its pedestal and thrown into the political mud.2:55 This is new.2:56 The institution has always been political, but its veneer of being above politics was its primary source of power.3:04 That veneer is now gone.3:05 The risk is that its rulings are seen as just another partisan opinion, stripping them of their authority.3:12 When the highest court in the land is viewed as just another team in the game, the entire rule of law is weakened.3:20 Now, here’s the turn.3:21 While the judicial branch’s reputation is under attack, its actual power is being asserted in a different arena: cannabis.3:29 The Trump administration pushed through a major rescheduling of marijuana.3:34 It’s operational.3:35 It’s happening.3:36 But—and this is the key—it’s not a done deal.3:39 A company called MMJ International Holdings is leading one of the legal challenges.3:44 And its CEO, Duane Boise, said something that perfectly captures the principle of judicial review.3:50 He said, “Implementation does not equal legal finality.” Read that again.3:55 The President can order something.3:57 An agency can implement it.3:59 But that is not the end of the story.4:02 The courts get to review it.4:03 They get to decide if the action was legal.4:06 This is the system of checks and balances working exactly as designed.4:11 It’s slow.4:11 It’s messy.4:12 It’s frustrating.4:13 But it’s the guardrail.4:15 Even as the administration’s cannabis agenda faces pushback from its own allies—Republican senators, public safety groups, medical experts—the ultimate decision rests with the judiciary.4:27 So you have this incredible split screen.4:29 On one channel, a core institution—the Supreme Court—is having its legitimacy eroded by politics.4:36 On the other, that same institutional power—the judiciary—is acting as the final backstop against executive action.4:43 One shows the weakness, the other shows the strength.4:47 Both are happening at the exact same time.4:49 The system is fraying and holding, all at once.
