0:00 Microsoft's AI CEO, Mustafa Suleyman, just claimed a new internal model outperformed OpenAI's GPT 5-5 for a client, with ten times better cost efficiency.0:12 In our last episode, we talked about AI transforming developer workflows.0:18 This is that transformation hitting its next gear.0:22 The rest of the market is also moving.0:25 Fast.0:26 xAI, now merged with SpaceX, filed for the largest IPO in history.0:31 The target valuation is one point seven five trillion dollars, with a seventy-five billion dollar raise.0:40 Investor confidence is high, but the filing shows a six billion dollar loss in 2025 and a two-and-a-half billion dollar quarterly burn.0:51 This is a bet on orbital computing, not a balanced sheet.0:56 Meanwhile, researchers just exposed a major weakness in top AI models.1:01 They used a classic psychology attention test.1:05 The models performed well on short, simple tasks.1:09 But their performance deteriorated sharply as the sequences got longer and more complex.1:16 It's a reminder that scaling up isn't solving all the fundamental problems.1:23 And in neuroscience, a full neural connectome of an adult fruit fly has been mapped.1:30 For the first time, we have an unprecedented view of how a brain and body work together.1:37 This isn't just biology.1:39 It’s a potential blueprint for new AI architectures.1:43 Finally, OpenAI is not standing still.1:46 The company confirmed it raised one hundred twenty-two billion dollars as of March, at an eight hundred fifty-two billion dollar valuation.1:58 Their APIs are now processing over fifteen billion tokens per minute.2:03 That is the definition of scale.2:06 Let's go back to Microsoft.2:08 Because what's happening there is more than just a new model launch.2:14 It's a strategic shift.2:16 For years, Microsoft's AI story was its partnership with OpenAI.2:21 It was a consumer of a frontier model.2:24 Now, CEO Satya Nadella says the time has come to move from consuming to participating.2:31 The first move is MAI-Code-1-Flash.2:34 It's their own proprietary AI coding model.2:38 Kyle Daigle, Microsoft's developer marketing chief, was clear: this is built for high efficiency at a low-token cost.2:47 That directly targets developer pain points.2:51 It’s not about being the biggest model; it's about being the most economical one for a specific, high-volume task.3:00 The second move is the one that should worry OpenAI.3:04 It's the MAI-Thinking-1 reasoning model.3:08 This is the model that, after being refined for the consulting firm McKinsey, allegedly beat GPT 5-5 on cost-efficiency by a factor of ten.3:19 This is the real story.3:21 It's the shift from spectacle to infrastructure.3:25 The flashy conversational demos are over.3:28 The new game is embedding AI into automated workflows, making it a deep operational layer inside a business.3:37 An eighty-three percent reduction in physician documentation time isn't a demo.3:44 It’s a structural change.3:46 Microsoft is betting that enterprises don't just want to rent access to a massive, general-purpose brain.3:54 They want to build their own smaller, specialized, highly efficient models tailored to their exact needs.4:03 And they want to do it without paying a massive per-token tax to an outside vendor.4:10 What you're seeing is a divergence.4:13 OpenAI is building the public utility.4:16 Massive compute, massive models, serving everyone.4:20 Microsoft is now building the private power generators.4:25 Smaller, tailored, and critically, owned.4:28 The era of AI as a product you watch is ending.4:32 The era of AI as the plumbing you rely on has just begun.
